A Storied Escape in the Heart of the Adirondacks

Welcome to Franklin Manor, a beautifully preserved Queen Anne-style home built circa 1896 by D.W. Riddle in the historic Village of Saranac Lake, NY—the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. Originally a cure cottage during the tuberculosis era and later home to the Carmelite Monastery (1952–1998), this unique property has been lovingly restored into the warm and welcoming bed and breakfast it is today.

While modern upgrades have been thoughtfully incorporated to enhance comfort and energy efficiency, the Manor still honors its roots. You'll find original woodwork, historic architecture, and antique blueprints and photographs displayed throughout the home—offering a glimpse into its rich past.

Location is everything, and Franklin Manor places you just steps from Lake Flower, the Baker Mountain trailhead, and the vibrant downtown Saranac Lake, filled with local restaurants, craft breweries, charming shops, and art galleries. The iconic Lake Placid is less than 10 miles away, making it easy to explore the entire region.
Whether you're here for hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, leaf-peeping, antiquing, or winter sports like skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling—adventure awaits in every direction. Plus, with direct access to the Adirondack Rail Trail, outdoor exploration is just steps from your room.

At the end of each invigorating day, return to the serenity of Franklin Manor, where you can unwind with a long soak in a cozy bath, relax on the wraparound porch, or simply enjoy the peaceful charm of your historic surroundings.
At Franklin Manor, we strive to make your Adirondack experience comfortable, memorable, and truly one of a kind.
